RTD News

RTD Construction recently received a $32.7 million dollar prime contract from the City of Villa Rica, GA for the construction of the City’s New West Water Reclamation Facility. This project involves the construction of a complete New Water Reclamation Facility to replace the City’s outdated existing West Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The new facility consists of an Influent Pump Station and Head Works, a Biological Treatment Unit, Two Secondary Clarifiers, a Tertiary Treatment Unit, an Ultraviolet Disinfection Unit, an Effluent Pump Station, a Cascade Aeration Structure, a Sludge Pumping Station, a Sludge Digestion Basin, a Plant Drain Pump Station, a Liquid Lime Storage and Feed System. Also included in this project are a Chemical/Electrical Building, a Maintenance Building, a Sludge Dewatering Building and a Control Building with offices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, plant Control rooms and laboratory facilities.

In addition to building these treatment structures and buildings, RTD will install all above and below ground process piping and all mechanical process equipment with its’ own forces. When this project is completed, RTD ‘Constructors’ will have formed and placed 14,000 CY of concrete, installed 10,000 LF of various size and types of process piping and excavated and compacted more than 100,000 CY of soil.

This project has an Estimated Completion Date of March 2011.

The City Manager of Villa Rica, Larry Wood was recently quoted in the local newspaper as saying “Now that we’re into it, I’m comfortable with RTD handling the project. The project manager out there is a real hands-on guy and I’ve been pleased with their progress. They don’t give excuses: they get results and that’s what you’ve got to have on a project like this.”
